PURSUIT OF “GREEN INNOVATION”: 13TH INTERNATIONAL MINING & METALLURGY CONGRESS ASTANA MINING & METALLURGY - AMM 2023 STARTED IN ASTANA
TODAY, ON JUNE 1, THE 13TH INTERNATIONAL MINING & METALLURGY CONGRESS ASTANA MINING & METALLURGY - AMM 2023 STARTED ITS WORK.
According to an annual tradition, the AMM Congress has become a meeting place for representatives of government agencies, national and international companies, investment funds, industry experts and heads of large MMC companies for the purpose of meeting and professional communication. Over 1,200 delegates from 23 countries (Azerbaijan, Belgium, Brazil, Great Britain, Germany, the Netherlands, Georgia, Denmark, India, Kazakhstan, Canada, China, Luxembourg, UAE, Russia, Slovakia, USA, Turkey, Ukraine, Finland, France, Switzerland, Japan) take part in the Congress in 2023, which shows the global interest in the Congress and its importance in the development of the mining and metallurgical sector of the country.
The first day of the Congress was focused on technical issues. The Congress program was opened by the IV Coal Forum, which is held annually with the partnership of AGMP. The experts discussed opportunities for development of the coal industry in the context of the new energy paradigm. The moderator was N.V. Radostovets, Executive Director of the Association of legal entities “Republican Association of Mining and Metallurgical Enterprises”. The Forum was attended by I.Sh. Sharkhan, Vice-Minister of Industry and Infrastructural Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Zh.D. Nurmaganbetov, Vice-Minister of Energy, T.Z. Zharkenov, Deputy Chairman of the Management Board, Member of the Management Board of Atameken NCE of the Republic of Kazakhstan, K.M. Asambekov, Deputy Director of the Fuel and Energy Complex Department of the Agency for Protection and Competition Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and the heads of coal divisions of major mining and metallurgical complex companies. In his speech, I.Sh. Sharkhan noted: “About 30 companies are engaged in coal mining for population and household needs, energy and industrial sectors. The industry provides jobs for about 30 thousand people. Today, the Government of Kazakhstan has approved the Concept of development of the fuel and energy complex until 2029, which provides for the implementation of eight projects and increase in production volu Many additional measures and projects are being taken, which are aimed at the efficient use of the country's coal potential and will be a priority in the development of the coal industry in the coming years.
Along with that, in an informal and friendly atmosphere, a PR-breakfast was held with representatives of communications services of MMC-companies, where the issues of influence of strategic and corporate communications on changes inside the companies and building of an effective dialogue with the media were discussed. In the new area of the Congress, the Amphitheater, there was a large session on Kazakhstan-Canada cooperation in the field of mining and processing of natural resources.
AGMP held two round tables “Personnel and Social Responsibility”, where the personnel issues were considered through the prism of the key resource of the company, one of the speakers of which was the First Vice-Minister of Labor and Social Protection of the population of the Republic of Kazakhstan A.A. Sarbasov, and “Current Issues of Ecology”, where the Vice-Minister of Industry and Infrastructure Development of Kazakhstan I.Ye. Ospanov was one of the speakers.
There was a session specifically for GR-specialists on using environmental and socio-economic challenges as points of growth, turning them from risks to opportunities for development. For the first time, a special event was organized that recognizes the importance and expertise of veterans of the mining and metallurgical industry. At a specialized session, distinguished representatives of the mining and metallurgical complex, honored veterans of the industry shared valuable secrets and accumulated years of experience of their fruitful work with the younger generation.
The content of the first day of the Congress also included sessions on improving legislation in the MMC, mining and geology, a session on digitalization of underground mining and AMM Tech on innovations in the MMC.
During the session “Efficient implementation of Industry 4.0 elements in MMC by means of state support tools” the prospects of development of the state support mechanism within the framework of subsoil users' obligations on R&D financing and implementation of Industry 4.0 elements (digitalization and automation of production processes) were discussed.
Over 36 companies from 7 countries, such as Kazakhstan, China, Russia, the United States, Switzerland, France, and Japan, presented their innovative proposals from mining and metallurgical enterprises at the Hilton Astana. 72% (26 exhibiting companies) of the total number of participants were domestic companies, and 10 companies were international participants. The exhibition is held in a renewed format, a feature was the new location of the exhibition stands, as well as increased exposition area. The participants include such companies as Kazzinc, KAZ Minerals, Micromine, LNDC, Hikvision, Swiss Tower Mills Minerals AG, SGS Kazakhstan and others. Borkit Safety, Grintec Magotteaux Ceramic Technology Co., KazRemma Service, Metso, Rajant Corporation, Baisal Group, Red October Corporation and others will make their debut with stands.
