METALS OF THE FUTURE: AMM 2024 - MEETING OF INNOVATIONS AND CHALLENGES IN ASTANA
ONE OF THE LEADING EVENTS IN CENTRAL ASIA - THE 14TH INTERNATIONAL MINING AND METALLURGY CONGRESS - ASTANA MINING & METALLURGY - AMM 2024 WILL BE HELD FROM JUNE 6 TO 7 IN ASTANA. THE MAIN THEME OF THE 2024 CONGRESS WILL BE “THE ERA OF METALS - CHALLENGES AND SOLUTIONS”, WHICH HIGHLIGHTS KAZAKHSTAN’S PROSPECTS FOR THE EXTRACTION AND PROCESSING OF RARE-EARTH METALS, WHICH HAVE BECOME “NEW OIL” AND THE MOST IMPORTANT SECTOR OF THE COUNTRY’S ECONOMY.
Traditionally, AMM 2024 is presented by the Congress and an exhibition of unique developments and proposals from leading manufacturers in the mining and metallurgical sector. The 2024 exposition will be presented by 41 companies from 12 countries - Switzerland, China, Kazakhstan, Russia, Cyprus, USA, Poland, Finland, Germany, Japan, France, Turkey. The following exhibitors will present their products as debutants at the exhibition: AV Group, Alef Trade, Geobrugg, Derrick Corporation, Eurasia TechMachinery, Labvea, Magotteaux S.A., Miakom St. Petersburg, Mount Sopris, Netcad Yazilim A.Ş, Novomek, Satbayev University, Warter Polymers Ltd., Feluwa Pumpen Gmbh, Cable Alliance Holding.
The expanded exhibition area, occupying more than 350 sq.m., will feature a wide range of goods and services: advanced technologies and equipment, chemical products for the mining and metallurgical industry, solutions for industrial and environmental safety, geological research, engineering services and innovative developments. Among the participants are key players in various fields offering relevant and in-demand solutions for industry.
In 2024, 977 delegates from 20 countries - Kazakhstan, Denmark, UAE, Germany, Saudi Arabia, Great Britain, France, Australia, Mongolia, Canada, India, Switzerland, China, Russia, USA, Poland, Finland, Japan, Turkey, Belgium will take part in specialized sessions.
As part of the two-day business program of the Congress, a wide range of issues related to the development of the mining and metallurgical industry and technological solutions in the industry will be considered. On the first day of the Congress, a Plenary session “The Era of Metals - Challenges and Solutions” will be held. The speakers will be Benjamin Gallezot, Interdepartmental Delegate for Strategic Supply of Ore and Metals; Garth Kirkham, President of CRIRSCO; Serik Shakhazhanov, General Director of Eurasian Group LLP; Nurakhmet Nuriyev, Chairman of the Board of Kazakhmys Corporation LLP; Xavier San Martin Tillet, President of Orano Mining, Senior Executive Vice President of the Mining Business Division of the Orano Group, Member of the Group Executive Committee; Tina Armstrong, Global Managing Director of Hatch; Henrik Hololei, Chief Advisor to the General Director of the European Commission. The second day of the Congress will be entirely devoted to technical sessions to discuss the digitalization of mining and metallurgical works.
On June 6, a press breakfast for the media will take place, where key and industry media in Kazakhstan will consider important issues and share experiences with the press services of ministries, national companies and large mining and metallurgical organizations. Also, there will be Strategic sessions on the topics: “Critical raw minerals - strategic assets: research of the minerals of the future” and “Rules of extraction of commercial minerals in Kazakhstan: how the rules of the game are changing”. Representatives of Kazakh and European businesses will discuss in a dialogue format the practice, potential and new technologies in the field of critical minerals at the Business Forum: “Partnership between Kazakhstan and the European Union in the field of critical minerals”. In the Amphitheater area there will be a presentation by speakers at the Panel session: “Beneficiation and processing - digitalization of beneficiation factories”. At the case session, Canadian and Kazakhstani companies will present their developments for the mining and metallurgical industry.
On June 7, traditionally, with the support of the DRAGMET and Polymetal Association, the V Forum of Gold Miners of Kazakhstan will be held within the framework of the Congress. Also, the V Coal Forum will take place, which is held annually in partnership with Association of Mining and Metallurgical Enterprises. The content part of the second day will include Panel sessions on the following topics: “Digitalization of surface and underground mining” and “Making assumptions in the digital thicket: how to predict and solve the issues of the decade based on artificial intelligence”. In the amphitheater area, the winners of the Golden Hephaestus industry competition will share their successful experience of participating in the competition. A training session will be held especially for PR specialists, where speakers will discuss the new direction in PR about using environmental and socio-economic challenges as points of growth, turning them from risks into opportunities of development. GR meet-up will allow establishing high-quality business contacts with representatives of the public sector and the majority of subsoil users in Kazakhstan
AMM 2024 Congress will be a unique platform for the exchange of best practices, innovative ideas and strategies that contribute to the sustainable development and prosperity of the mining and metallurgical sector both in the region and beyond.
The annual industry competition of republican significance - Golden Hephaestus will be held on June 6, where the laureates will receive deserved recognition for their contribution and will be awarded in 15 categories. The competition was organized with the support of the General Partner - ERG (Eurasian Group).
